Two Things Challenge: Up/Down

Originally, I was thinking the "up" part of this challenge would require me to be looking up, but then I decided that I could actually be looking at the seagulls up on the roof across the street. Seagulls build their nests on rooftops, so at my place of employment we get the rare chance to be able to watch the babies as they grow up and practice flying before making the ultimate leap off the roof!

This is mom (or dad) with baby seagull. The young ones slowly lose their gray over the course of two years until they have completely white heads like this adult.

This adult was hilarious standing on his one foot. He kept turning in the wind like a weather vane.

Two Things Challenge: Up/Down

I may find something better before Sunday. I had a hard time with the "up" part of this challenge today as it's gray and drizzly.

Photo Friday Challenge: Awful!

I never got a good shot of litter for our previous Two Things Challenge, so when I heard the Photo Friday Challenge this week is "awful" I immediately thought of trying to get another litter shot.

Seen today walking home from the Farmer's Market.

Sayonara!

After getting my face painted at the kiddie party, we went to a second party to say good bye to our good friend Miho who is going back to Japan. We hope she finds a way to come back to us soon!

We played a beer/sake pong tournament. It seemed to be a cross between quarters and ping pong. My team did not win, but we still had a lot of fun.

Bouncin'

I attended a kids party today and found out that these bouncy houses are a real hit. I wanted to bounce too, but you can only have people of the same weight in at the same time. I thought about kicking the kids out so I could go in, but settled for getting my face painted instead.

Lazy Days of Summer

Or maybe not so lazy if you are making jewelry in the back of your truck!

Meandering

Alley Door. I had another doctor visit today in a different part of town. This guy didn't have anything interesting in his room at all, so I had to rely on my walk home for fodder.

If you look closely, you will see a bee at the bottom of this flower and you can even see it's eyes!

Two Things Challenge: Corner/Stone

This has corners and stones!

I found it amusing that these intials are "BK" as I know someone with those initials. So, this shot is dedicated to BK!

Nothing But Blue Skies...

You don't see much in Southwest style in these parts, but this strange apartment building on Capitol Hill has a Southwest facade!

I watched these two birds for quite awhile hoping I'd catch one in flight, but animals don't much like to co-operate.

Kubota Garden

I looked at one potential house today and it happened to be next to Kubota Garden, so we took a quick stroll through it. This is a beautiful Japanese garden and walking through it makes one feels so peaceful!

I'm voting for Polar Bears

I wandered through the Capitol Hill Sustainability Festival today before going through the Farmer's Market. It was a perfect day for it as it was sunny and not too hot!

Two Things Challenge: People/Watch

Oops, I just realized I may be too late for this one, but I snapped two more shots for this challenge (both seen at the Capitol Hill Sustainability Festival):

Staying Home

Today was a stay at home and clean kind of day. I did take breaks to watch movies. I love having them delivered to me in the mail! Best film I've seen recently? The Bubble.

Two Things Challenge: People/Watch

I've been trying to get shots for this challenge ALL WEEK, but with no luck. It's a tough challenge for me. As a general rule, I don't take people shots for the blog because I feel like I'm invading people's privacy and I don't have enough of a zoom to take shots without them knowing it. As a result, I take the shots very quickly and they are alomst always blurry because I don't have time to steady myself before they see me, or move, both of which ruin the shot. Here are two mediocre shots I took today in Pioneer Square park next to the Pergola. This is a good area to catch people watching other people because it's tourist central! I may get some better ones before Sunday. We'll see!

She is peering around the sign watching other people. Anyone understand what the sign means?

This guy was people watching without a doubt!

They're multiplying!

Spotted in the same building as the last one, but on a different floor.

The weather was lovely after work as you can see by this woman relaxing on her balcony.

Just hanging around.

To the Doctor and beyond!

I like that my doctor has this cute little mobile to look at when you are lying there on your back.

Old and New

One and Two Union Square. I've worked in both of these buildings at one time or another. In the taller one (Two Union), I worked on the 42nd floor. There was a great view from up there!

Double Take

I took a double take when I saw this out of the corner of my eye. Turns out it isn't real, but I still thought it was cute sitting in the window!

Roundabout

I've been under the weather for awhile now and decided to mostly take it easy today. I did, however, go to The Herbalist to pick up some tinctures in the hopes that they would help. While out and about, I spotted this in the roundabout.

I love low light and long shadows!

Sub Pop and The Storm

Tonight I went to see The Storm play. It was a great game against the L.A. Sparks. Normally, I'm not a big sports fan, but I will go when someone gives me free tickets! Women's basketball is also more exciting in some ways to watch than other sports as they still seem to play with team spirit and not just big egos.

If you look closely at this photo, you will see the ball near the top of the image. It made it in the basket!

The Seattle Storm Dance Troupe. They have a group of kids that dance whenever there is a break in the game. They are mighty good dancers!

The biggest little fan. This little guy was sitting in front of us and was all decked out in his Storm attire.

The game takes place near Seattle Center so I had a good view of the Space Needle with the Sub Pop flag flying to commemorate the record label's 20th anniversary.

Wining and Dining

I ate in the International District today for lunch. We did not eat Dim Sum, but I thought this table looked so nicely set up, that I snapped a shot on the way out.

Grabbed a detail of the new arch in the International District on the way back to work.

I ate dinner at the Metropolitan Grill. I had a gift certificate, but it was still quite expensive. Their specialty is steak, but I think we were more impressed with the Cherries Jubilee we had for dessert which they prepared table-side!

Colorful Leaf

Spiral Tile

Yet another option for the Photo Friday spiral challenge. So, now I need y'all to vote by tomorrow on which one you think I should post on the site? I can only pick one and I'm having a hard time deciding!
