Puppies!

My friend just got two puppies. So cute! They are Havanese mixes.

Also spotted in my friend's garden.

People Everywhere!

The people were out today! I went downtown to meet a friend and watch a movie and it seems many many people also decided to hit the city streets on this three day weekend. I think many of the people were attending PAX (Penny Arcade Expo). The Gamers were everywhere!

The Good ol' Days and The Good New Days

Not the best shot, but these were my two favorite arcade games when I was a teenager (Joust and Ms. Pac-Man) and when I spotted them at lunch today, I was so excited! I will have to go back when I have more time and play.

Happy Hour at Collins Pub. The best way to start a three day weekend!

Photo Ops Everywhere!

Today was a veritable smorgasbord of photo ops! I actually had to edit some of them out so as not to overwhelm y'all.

I was racing down the steps of my apartment building this morning in my usual rush to get to work when I skidded to a halt in the lobby and just had to take a photo of this. How could you not? Why was it there? What does it mean? An odd sight to start of my day for sure!

Then at lunch I saw the Great Dane lady (see previous post). It's not every day you see beautiful dogs like that!

Then the goats came to Capitol Hill! I had heard of them, but never seen them, so this was an exciting event. They were just below the dog park hanging out munching on the tall weeds next to the freeway. Most of them were resting by the time I took these photos. Clearly they had had a long hard day of munching!

This "lady" says she trains big dogs like these Great Danes.

One of her Danes.

Violinmaker

This building also caught my eye and seems to be the shop of a violinmaker!

I wonder if this is the man himself?

Two Things Challenge: Church/Lady

This is a tough one for me since I'm not a church goer. I did, however, spot this church on my way home from the doctor today and thought it fits at least half the challenge!

Here Comes the Rain Again...

Timing is everything. The heavens opened up and the rain poured down only while I was walking home from work today. Of course, I was so busy taking photos that it took longer than usual to get home and I got drenched in the process. One must suffer for one's art, right?

I finally made it home with wet jeans and umbrella. Normally we don't get to wear jeans to work, however, today was "clear the clutter" day in preparation for our move in November, so we were given this allowance.

Two Things Challenge: Hard/Soft

I bought this little sculpture in Rio at Legep. I believe it's made out of soapstone. I thought it met this challenge because a soft woman is being represented through hard stone. Of course, soapstone is also a very soft rock as far as rocks go, so you could also say it's soft though it feels hard.

Pirates and Optimists

If you look hard you can see that one of these boats has a smiley face flag and one has a scull and cross bones. I love it! I spent the day out on a boat on Lake Washington. It was a blast!

He seems to be looking for a couch companion!

It was warm enought to jump in!

Heading home we could see Mt. Rainier all aglow.

All the boats heading back to the Marinas.

Bank of California Building/Key Bank Building

This is the Key Bank lobby on 2nd Avenue in downtown Seattle. The skylight was blacked out until 1982 when Callison reconstructed the skylight which had been blacked out since WWII.

What to do with all that pent up energy?

This is the latest addition to our team. Today happened to be mighty frustrating for all of us, so he got a lot of abuse!

We ate at Ivar's today on the Waterfront and this was the nice view of the ferry from our table. We ate inside which is much more expensive, so from now on I think I'll be sticking to the outside/cheaper option even if I have to brave the seagulls!

waiting... waiting... waiting...

This is the board in the Smith Tower lobby that shows where the elevators are. When those red lights get to the bottom, the elevator is there. I waited a long time this morning for that to happen!

I spent a great deal of the rest of my day staring at screens like this waiting for that blue bar to get to it's destination.

VOTE!

I wasn't feeling well this morning, so called in sick to work having visions of sleeping, reading, watching TV, and maybe a movie. Then I realized I needed to mail my ballot! So I rallied, got dressed, and headed out on this mission (fortunately, the Post Office is only a block away). Washington state is trying out a new kind of primary this week. It's a non-partisan event. And the top two finalists in every race — regardless of party — move on to the general election. This made it very important to vote in this primary even though I waited until the last minute to do so (procrastinators unite!).

Stop and take a load off. Seen on the way home.

Book Club

It was supposed to be a quick and easy summer read, but I found it quite depressing. Our meeting tonight, however, was most enjoyable. We really have a great bunch of people!

I spotted this low maintenance yard today while out house-hunting.

Two Things Challenge: Window/Shop

I was wondering what I was going to shoot for this challenge, when my friend pointed out another store in Pioneer Square that actually sells stained glass windows! AND, had them in the window. Thus: a Window Shop.

New Boutique Store

I found this new store called Gems in Pioneer Square today. The space is designed beautifully! I also really liked the artwork.

Felix the Cat

This is for Sally at Sydney Daily Photo. She's been posting shots of Felix lately and I spotted this today, so shot it for her.

All Your Ducks in a Row

Seattle has duck tours for tourists that take place in these big vehicles that go both through town on the roads and in the water.

There were actually three of them all lined up, but I could only get a good shot of two.
