PRIDE

Last weekend Seattle celebrated PRIDE. This is a picture of one of the Macy's window displays.

This shot and the next few shots were taken at the Dyke Rally.

Sarah wasn't too sure about my camera pointing at her, but seemed happy enough to be at the Rally.

Update

Amir is free again and back on his blog! The blogging community is sighing a big sigh of relief!

Freedom of Expression

This is a special post to let everyone know what is happening to the blogging community in Iran. The City Daily Photo (CDP) Bloggers have a fellow blogger, "A", who blogs about the city of Tehran. He has been missing for a few days now (they think he's been arrested) and his site has been taken down. Today the CDP bloggers have a special tribute to him and other bloggers who are having their freedom of speech/photography taken away from them. Please take a moment to look at their photos and think about how sad it is that those people are not allowed to express themselves. We are thinking about you, "A", and hope you are OK.

Just Keeping an Eye Out

The Grand Canyon is a superb model and always astonishes. Unfortunately, the weather didn't co-operate and it was hazy the day we were there. I had to do some post processing to make these shots somewhat acceptable.

The Colorado River. I'd love to go on another river trip down there someday!

100 Strangers Series: 9

I happened to be at Stumptown on 12th the other day buying some coffee beans and they were having a coffee tasting downstairs! Charlie (pictured here) led us through the whole process. It was a bit like wine tasting, but there were a lot more rounds of smelling the coffee before the actual tasting. When tasting, we spit into a cup just like you do when wine tasting so we wouldn't get too over-caffeinated. I got to try some coffee that costs about $95 a bag!

100 Strangers Series: 7 and 8

We met Matt and Chris at the Grand Canyon as well. If you want to meet strangers, this is the place to be!

Matt owns Sonoran Desert Cycle (SDC) and they were hauling this motorcycle around with them at the Grand Canyon. Too bad they couldn't ride it!

100 Strangers Series: 5 and 6

We met a couple named Mike and Joan (Mike pictured here) that were also driving across the country (not part of the Gumball 3000) in this old Cord L-29. Beautiful car!

Gumball 3000

We kept seeing these souped up cars driving around while we were in Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I finally got some shots of them parked at the Grand Canyon. They are part of a "rally" called the Gumball 3000 which seems to be an event that happens once a year in which rich men and women drive a specific route which could be anywhere in the world. This year it happened to be across the US and we just happened to be in Sedona the day they were and then at the Grand Canyon as well. Judging by the way they were driving, I'd say they looked at this event more like a "race" than a "rally," but they've gotten in trouble in the past and had to change it to a rally.

These girls got out of one of the cars (speaking a foreign language), took a pic of themselves in front of the Grand Canyon, then got right back in the car and left. Not the best way to see the Grand Canyon in my opinion after coming all that way!

Bat-N-Rouge II

More images of the Drag Queens vs. Dykes softball game.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were in attendance.

To each his own.

Dancing Drag Queens

The game drew a large crowd.

This is no ordinary softball game. For donations people can buy all manner of things such as making people leapfrog, run bases, get an automatic home run, or be out.

In the end, the Dykes won this one because they brought in more donation money.
