Gruyères, Switzerland: Fleur de Lys

We ate a wonderful meal at the Fleur de Lys. They had a good game menu (popular in the Fall) and a Mac and Cheese dish with Gruyères cheese. So good!

Charlie had company at this meal.

Little Horses

The owners of the Hotel Kistenpass have little horses in the backyard. Here they are in a snowstorm. They are so cute! They also have a donkey (affectionately known as Der Willy) who will take you for walks around the village. Alas, I did not get to go on a walk with him this time around because of the weather, but hopefully next time we go I will!

Here they are checking out Gibby, the Rat Terrier.

Feeding time!

Thanksgiving #3 - Basel, Switzerland

Our last T-day took place in Basel the next weekend. This was probably the most relaxing of the three since there were only four of us and we are all good friends. This turkey was brined which made it especially juicy. The stuffing was fantastic too!

He's wondering where his share of the turkey is.

Everyone kept their farms well tended in Farmville!

Basel Ferry

It's all powered by the flow of the water because it's attached to a line that goes across the Rhine (Rhein). It only takes a few minutes to cross and it feels much cooler on the water. I wanted to just keep crossing back and forth awhile, but we had things to see!

All the passengers and the boatman taking the fare.

The mighty Rhine.

People swimming in it.

People not swimming in it undoubtedly wishing they were (like I was 'cause it was so hot).

Gibby was excited to be on the boat as well.

However, both DeeDee and Gibby had fun on the other side!
