Basilica Rankweil, Rankweil, Austria

Basilica Rankweil
In September, we set out again for Austria. We spent the night along the way near the town of Rankweil, just over the border from Liechtenstein. We were driving by and saw this basilica on a hill, so decided to investigate. It is a beautiful church with a great view and grounds.

Albula Pass IV

Albula Pass
I loved these Gentian flowers at the top. This post is for my dad as these are his favorite flowers!

Albula Pass, Switzerland

Albula Pass
On the final day of our vacation this Summer, our GPS took us up a scary windy road (often single track) up to the Albula Pass. Once at the top, we were rewarded with the most spectacular views! I found an entry for this road on a website called Most Dangerous Roads. Fortunately, there was very little traffic on this road.

Muottas Muragl, Switzerland

Muottas Muragl
After Diavolezza, we took the train back towards Zuoz and got off and took a very old funicular up to Muottas Muragl. I truly think at the top of this mountain may be one of the most amazing views we've seen in all of Switzerland! There is also a nice art walk at the top with sculptures and benches everywhere.

Diavolezza VI

Diavolezza
Geology buffs will like this: one glacier flowing into another. Also, notice the nice moraine!

Diavolezza, Switzerland

Diavolezza
Our next adventure took us up another aerial tramway to a mountain viewpoint called Diavolezza (she-devil). From here you can see the Piz Bernina (the highest peak of the Eastern Alps) and the Pers glacier. Charlie was excited to see the snow and run in it!
