Mooooooooo

We spent an entire day at Ballenberg walking the whole path. This is a great place that has buildings and animals representing all the areas of Switzerland (mostly historical). We happened to be there during the cow festival, so saw quite a few different kinds of cows.

All the pretty bells

On the walk to get to Ballenberg (the parking lot was a long ways away due to the amount of tourists there!), I snapped these shots.

Brienz

On our way from Interlaken to Ballenberg, we drove through the little town of Brienz. We stopped and went into a cute little store and saw a bunch of cuckoo clocks among other things.

Commuting

I think this epitomizes life around the UN in Geneva. Many people in suits. Many bike riders. In the background are the flags of nations in front of the UN.

A Foggy Day

We have had quite a few foggy days here this winter so far. This represents one of those days.

More Campus Wanderings

One of the buildings at work. There is supposed to be water where the rocks are, but for some reason it is empty.

Japanese Garden

On the way to the cafeteria every day we pass by this Japanese Garden. It's such a peacful place, I thought I'd take a few photos.

Across the Street from Switzerland

Our apartment is in France literally across the street from Switzerland. We commute every day from one country to the other! If you look closely, you can see where the dirt field turns a slighty lighter color. That is the border!

The view from one of our balconies.

WHO HQ main building

The World Health Organization is headquartered in Geneva. The main building was designed by Swiss architect Jean Tschumi who died before it was built making it the last building he ever designed. It was inaugurated in May of 1966 (that would be the month and year I was born!).

Driving to Work

We have a small commute every morning to get to work by car. Scooters and motorcyles pass most of the line of cars. The nice thing is that there is a mixture of small neighborhoods and farmland. We also drive by the end of the airport runway, so sometimes see planes coming in for a landing. We see buffalo too, but I haven't taken any photos of them yet because they are in a tricky place to stop the car.

Shalimar

This is Cameron. He works at our favorite Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Ferney called Shalimar. The fact that they actually have a website is amazing in these parts!

We usually get our orders to go and are treated to one of these delicious juices (with or without alcohol) while we wait. Good customer service!
