I'm surprised by how small the root ball is for a tree that size. Ah, to bask in the sun's warmth again. 7 more months until spring! (or so it seems)
dusty: I was surprised too! I wonder if the roots spread out after planting. If not, it may be why they are so easily uprooted in a big storm!
I think palms are naturally shallow-rooted. That's why so many of them end up, er, uprooted in hurricanes. Is it spring yet?
dc: If this is true, it seems odd that they would be prolific in places that get hurricanes! Strange...
