We took a road trip around France at the end of August and into the beginning of September. We started by going to the palace of Fontainebleau outside of Paris. It is quite spectacular on the inside and far less touristy than Versailles. I highly recommend it!

One sees these brass owl markers everywhere. They are meant to show where to walk and stop for a self-guided walking tour of Dijon. Next time I think we will try this tour!

In early August we took a short trip to Dijon, France. It was far more charming than I expected. This lovely town is not mentioned in many guide books, so is not teeming with tourists. This main square in front of the Ducal Palace had fountains that the kids loved to play in.
