Corcovado

At the end of the day we went up Corcovado which has the large statue of Jesus overlooking the city.

View from part way up.

Our tour guide being interviewed by a BBC journalist that I befriended on the tour.

The base of the statue was remarkably clean!

A bored employee.

You see a lot of this going on.

The rock is amazing!

Great trip pics! As a tourist, I too am amused by what fellow tourists do at touristy sites. Do you have any inside scoop from the BBC? I used to listen to the BBC on my shortwave radio.

Isn't it funny what people do for a memorable picture? In D.C., tourists try to get shots that make them look like they're standing next to the Washington Monument with their hand on top of it!

Great travel photos, Maya!

dusty and d.c.: Thanks! I have one of these photos as well since people "made" me do it. I keep trying to tell folks that I prefer being behind the camera, not in front of it, but they still make you do it. I am not, however, going to post that one! ;-)

Maya, your photos are amazing. It's so much fun to follow along in your travels. Looks like you're having a wonderful time. I've always like pics I've seen of Corcovado and your mountain climber, yikes.

Be Safe!

artful: Thanks! I am safely back home now. I just returned yesterday after 24 hours of traveling. I'm now recovering and trying to catch up on the last few days of photos!

dusty: I chatted with them about their views on the democratic race (they brought it up). They didn't like some comment Hillary made about foreign affairs. I hadn't heard the comment though. That is about all the scoop I got. The guys were really nice. One was from Pakistan and one from India. Both live in London now.
