Madrid V: Almudena Cathedral

We stumbled across this cathedral and it was easily the most beautiful cathedral I've ever seen! I've never seen a cathedral with this much color. We wished we had more time to explore it. We may have to go back someday.

Wow. Is that paint or mosaic? I know that many cathedrals were painted in their early years. But most are so old the paint has worn away or been removed. This is spectacular.

It is paint. It is a fairly new cathedral which is probably why it's so fresh looking.

Reminds me of our little church here in Columbiana, Alabama . . . NOT!

Maya, you did wonderful job with the pictures and thank you for sharing with us. Almudena Cathedral is one of my favorite destination in Madrid. I post some Spain travelling stories and photographs too at Nomads Paradise, cheers' TITUT

I visited in October and couldn't get enough of this Cathedral. The mosaics in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel were stunning. I wish I could have taken pictures. I love yours!
