perigee-syzygy (or Supermoon!)

I took a few photos of the moon Saturday night when it was full and at it's closest point to the earth (as a full moon) in a long time. I really need a better lens and a good tripod to take good shots, but this was the best I could do before the clouds moved in again.

Two Things Challenge: Wet/Dry

All dry now and comfy in his blanket.

Charlie!

We finally settled on the name Charles (Charlie Boy) Bentley for our little Dachshund. It's a good thing he is really cute and sweet because the training process for a rescue dog has been a trial. He has a great deal of separation anxiety and for some reason doesn't want to leave our apartment to go for walks. Once we've gotten him away from the building, he is pretty good about walking, but not while home is in sight!

Charlie enjoys the occasional ice cube.

Charles (Charlie Boy) Bentley

Today we brought home this little guy. We adopted him from a group that picks up dogs in Italy and Spain that have been neglected (Charlie was in a puppy mill) and brings them to Switzerland to be adopted. He is 16 months old, so not a little puppy, however he still needs a lot of training! He is very sweet and gentile and seems to be picking up on doggy behavior quickly. He came to us malnourished and skinny, but we are fattening him up and taking him for long walks to help improve his muscle mass. We are happy to have him in our home.

Woodpecker

I saw this Woodpecker in the grass outside our apartment. He was digging up worms. He was also doing some kind of interesting movements with his neck, like a snake charmer luring the worms out. I love the red and yellow! Anyone know what kind he is?

New Bird!

We have a new bird at the feeder! Anyone know what he is? We call him Zorro because of his mask.
UPDATE: After doing research, I believe this is a Blue Tit. It is hard to see any blue on him in these shots, but I've come to this conclusion because of the stripe and song he makes. It seems we also have Great Tits coming to the feeder. Maybe I'll post a photo of one of them someday. But, for now, I have to get back to the shots I took while my friend, Rachel, was visiting. Thanks to Scott for sending me down the right road!

Home Sweet Home

We had a "pet" spider for awhile, but eventually one of us had to go, and we are bigger!

1000th Post: Goodbye OLD and hello NEW

This is the 1000th post I've made on this blog. I think this is a fitting time to usher out the old and bring in the new. This is the old apartment I had in Seattle after I moved everything out and put it in storage. Only the big items I left behind are in these two photos. I lived in this studio apartment on Capitol Hill for 16 years! It was a great time, but I was ready to move on. Let the new adventures begin.

Now I live in this apartment in France. This is the balcony with a visiting cat. I am so happy to have a piece of the outdoors to enjoy (as the cat does).

This cat we've named George. We also have Martha, Chaos, and Stubby living in the 'hood.

Cue ball in the sky

The moon is blown out, but I still think these shots are interesting.

This is the same shot as the one above without the added enhancements. Which do you prefer?
