1000th Post: Goodbye OLD and hello NEW

This is the 1000th post I've made on this blog. I think this is a fitting time to usher out the old and bring in the new. This is the old apartment I had in Seattle after I moved everything out and put it in storage. Only the big items I left behind are in these two photos. I lived in this studio apartment on Capitol Hill for 16 years! It was a great time, but I was ready to move on. Let the new adventures begin.






Now I live in this apartment in France. This is the balcony with a visiting cat. I am so happy to have a piece of the outdoors to enjoy (as the cat does).



This cat we've named George. We also have Martha, Chaos, and Stubby living in the 'hood.

The walk-on passengers are ready to walk off the ferry to Whidbey Island. Judging by the time of day, I imagine most of these people were working in Seattle and going home after work. Quite a long commute, but a nice one!

I wish I had a better photo of Anica (I hope I'm remembering her name correctly). She was our fabulous server at El Mestizo. It is worth going there just for the service!

El Mestizo

While in Seattle, I had a birthday meal at El Mestizo. I hadn't really planned anything as I was busy packing up my apartment, but two friends in the area joined me at the last minute to eat some Mexican food which I'd been craving the whole time I was away. I didn't really like my meal that much at this new place, but the cocktails and the service were fantastic! I think I may have just picked the wrong meal.

My friend was dog sitting in Magnolia and I spent some time there with her and the dogs. This is their view of Puget Sound. Not bad!

Mexican Food... Finally!

One of the things I miss most in Europe is good Mexican food. So, naturally, I went out with friends right away to get some! These shots were taken at El Camino in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.

The first two weeks during my trip back to Seattle (in May) the sun was out and it was beautiful. Hence all the lovely walks with friends. These shots were taken at Greenlake. The turtles came out in force to sun themselves.

Well, Hello There!

I spent one morning walking with my friends and dogs at Magnuson Park near Seattle (on the Eastside). Much fun was had by all!

Two Things Challenge: Star/Appeal

Here is another "where's Waldo" challenge. See if you can find the star and also my name and my friend Dan's name! This graffiti is on the wall at Juliano's Pizza on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Is the graffiti appealing? You be the judge! They have gluten free pizza, so we thought we'd give it a try. I don't think I'll be going back for that!

The Saint

We had cocktails and appetizers at The Saint before going to see E.T.. The Saint is a tequila bar with many brands of tequila for your sipping pleasure. All the people at our table preferred it in a mixed drink. The food and drinks were good, but the place is a bit noisy during Happy Hour.



Now that is a bead curtain! I saw this in the bathroom.

100 Strangers Series: 9

I happened to be at Stumptown on 12th the other day buying some coffee beans and they were having a coffee tasting downstairs! Charlie (pictured here) led us through the whole process. It was a bit like wine tasting, but there were a lot more rounds of smelling the coffee before the actual tasting. When tasting, we spit into a cup just like you do when wine tasting so we wouldn't get too over-caffeinated. I got to try some coffee that costs about $95 a bag!
