Very pretty, snow can be beautiful as you have shown here. Not so beautiful during the morning and evening commute. I am curious about the shoes on the wire, what does it mean adn why.
Cool photos, Maya! Of course, you know all of this snowfall you've all had will ever after be referred to as the "The Storm of '08".
This may not be the case in Seattle, but in some of the rougher neighborhoods of D.C. (and a few other urban areas), shoes on a wire like that are used by gangs and drug dealers to demarcate territory. It looks cool to the uninitiated, but to those in the know, it's a sign (or a warning, depending on which side of the drug deal or gang you're on) that illegal activity is going on in the area.
dc: I already had a whole discussion about this in a previous entry in my blog. I think in this case, it wasn't a drug sign. I watched the guys who threw the shoes up there. They are a group of homeless guys that roam this area and are usually drunk. One guy found the shoes as he was wandering by and threw them up there. I don't think he was marking the spot in any way...

That is why I'm glad I can work from home when it's this bad out!
In this case someone just found a pair of shoes and felt like throwing them up there. I actually watched this happen out my window awhile ago!
