Basel Christmas Market

The day after spending Thanksgiving with our friends in Basel, we headed to the Christmas Market. It was the best I've seen outside of Germany. Admittedly, my only recollections were of attending them as a child so they seemed quite magical. This one lived up to the memories!

This guy was the Grinch.

There were many cute handmade wooden toys available. It made me wish I was shopping for some younger kids!

Making things out of glass.

I'm pretty sure this was Santa scouting for presents!

That is going to have to be one big kiss for the load of mistletoe he's carrying!

Oh mi gosh what a kewl market. The one thing I didn't like about shopping in Europe is the difference between Americans and Europeans. We touch everything before we buy it, I remember literally having my hand slapped when I wanted to turn over something to see the whole thing. Regardless, that market looks way awesome.

Looks like the lady only needs a tiny bit of mistletoe -:) I love markets like this! Leavenworth, Washington, in the Cascade Mountains is a Bavarian theme town, and has an annual outdoor KrisKindleMart each year.

This looks wonderful, with lots of handcrafted items.

I keep saying I'm going to trek north for Levenworth (my friend just did and raved about) but I will definately have to plan my trip around KrisKendleMart.

Such colorful stalls! It would be hard to simply browse there. I would love to see it one day.

The Christmas Market in Basel ROCKED! (The one in Montreaux, not so much.) The German-speaking parts of Europe really know how to do Christmas. Glad your mistletoe pics turned out. Mine sucked.

Cele: I'm sure a few people wanted to slap my hand, but they were very polite!

Chuck: I guess she didn't need as much kissing!

Linda: It was great!

Cele: I will have to check out the Leavenworth one too. I'm not sure I'll like it as much though.

Cheryl: We didn't just browse. We bought too! ;-)

Janet: I agree. The Basel one was best!
