The Sacred Mountain

This is Mormon Lake in Arizona with the San Francisco Peaks in the background. This is near my hometown of Flagstaff.

The Open Road

We traveled on several bits of Old 66. Some were hairier than others. This was one of the better stretches.

This was one of the scarier pieces. You can just make out the road on the right hand side.

It was worth the adventure for the great scenery!

At the end of the scary drive through a pass, we were rewarded with seeing this strange little town complete with burros (or donkeys? or asses?) walking down the road!

Gettin' Our Kicks...

This post and the next few will feature our drive on old Route 66. It was certainly an adventure! The movie Cars was modeled after the town of Seligman, Arizona which is the subject of today's post.

We ate fabulous pie at Westside Lilo's Cafe. The woman that owns it is German and there are many German items on the menu such as Wiener Schnitzel. We decided we really had to come back for lunch sometime!

Just Keeping an Eye Out

The Grand Canyon is a superb model and always astonishes. Unfortunately, the weather didn't co-operate and it was hazy the day we were there. I had to do some post processing to make these shots somewhat acceptable.

The Colorado River. I'd love to go on another river trip down there someday!

Indian Paintbrush.

100 Strangers Series: 7 and 8

We met Matt and Chris at the Grand Canyon as well. If you want to meet strangers, this is the place to be!

Matt owns Sonoran Desert Cycle (SDC) and they were hauling this motorcycle around with them at the Grand Canyon. Too bad they couldn't ride it!

100 Strangers Series: 5 and 6

We met a couple named Mike and Joan (Mike pictured here) that were also driving across the country (not part of the Gumball 3000) in this old Cord L-29. Beautiful car!
