Did you ever notice that in Seattle most of the buildings built in the early 1900's have the same small white tiles with a few blue pieces woven in? Most are a very simple pattern, but these two taken in the Smith Tower are a bit fancier.
Seen in the bathroom.
Seen in front of the elevators to announce the floor you are on.

Maya, Beautiful shots! I love this about Smith Tower and always enjoy watching the numbered floors go whizzing by when coming down in the elevator from the Chinese Room. I've taken photos of the tile floor in an equipment room up there. It's so pretty!

Gorgeous! I love seeing stuff like this and then I wax nostalgic for it. It bespeaks a period in our country when quality was valued over quantity and taking the time to make things beautiful was the norm rather than the exception.
Kim: thanks!
d.c.: Quality was certainly valued in the Smith Tower. The man (and his son) spent a fortune on this building! I feel so honored to work in it.
Appealing flooring. We just don't see this in new construction anymore. And thats a shame.
