Book Club

Tonight was book club. We read Persepolis. I highly recommend this book! It's also been made into an Oscar nominated film which is also worth seeing. Our host for the evening has a house in West Seattle with a turret and an amazing view.

Dramatic Seattle skyline spotted on the drive over.

Industrial Seattle

View from our host's window!

The stained glass lamp.

The Turret

What do you do with a turret? Put in a bathroom of course! This is the bathroom window.

I haven't heard of this movie. Here at work we were talking about a movie called Flying with Kites, or something along those lines. I'm terrible with mivie names. Someting to do with Afghanistan and fleeing the taliban.

Way cool turret on the house. great color sceme. I would have made it into a reading/computer room.

Persepolis was up for an academy award in the animation category. It's not your typical happy go lucky story since it is based on a memoir of a woman that grows up in Iran and has to leave as a teen, then returns again. There are definitely funny bits in the book, but the subject matter is pretty depressing!

I haven't seen the Kite Runner (I think that is the name) or read the book. I'm sure it's probably pretty good (but also depressing, no?).

Alas, the turret is too small to make into anything but a tiny bathroom (just a toilet and sink). It was so small that I couldn't take a photo which showed how curved the walls were.

Wow! Million dollar view, if ever there was one! I want to be in your book group. While the rest of you meet in the living room to discuss amongst yourselves, I'll be listening from the bathroom, drinking in that fabulous view!

d.c.: If you lived here, I'd love to have you join! It's a great group.

I may have given the wrong impression, but the view is from the living room, not the turret bathroom. Sorry, you'd have to sit with us to enjoy the view. ;-)

It completely cracks me up that you took a picture in the bathroom! Love it. And I'm really glad you're in Book Club 2.0.

I love this book club! Thanks for organizing it. I DID ask permission before taking the bathroom shots... I really wanted a shot that showed the curved wall with the toilet, but it just didn't work out.
