The smells of Provence

Our entire time in Provence had us feeling like we were in a movie complete with soundtrack which is hard to convey in a blog. Equally difficult is the smell of lavender which was thick in the air the morning we left this beautiful place. Apparently it was the season to harvest. Our friends have a small field of lavender next to their house and these guys showed up to cut it. We decided their significant others must love the way they smell when they get home from a hard day's work!

I inevitably buy the wrong lavendar, that is what Iwant mine to look like. Instead it looks like the bush that ate Laurelwood Street. But it smells good.

I wonder of you can get fed up with the smell of it, working with it, day after day? It's definitely not my case! :-)

Oh, how wonderful and the photos are some I"ve never seen of the harvesting of the lavendar. Wait.....I think I can get a whiff from B'ham! :)

I can imagine our backyard filled with lavendar. The aroma and visual beauty. Best of all, I wouldn't have to mow that da...backyard.

Cele: Well at least you got the smell!

Peter: They probably do, or maybe they just don't smell it anymore? Too bad.

V: It was strong enough you probably could smell it that far away!

Rob: You might not have to mow it, but the harvesting looked pretty brutal! Of course, you'd only have to do that occasionally!
