Gumball 3000

We kept seeing these souped up cars driving around while we were in Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I finally got some shots of them parked at the Grand Canyon. They are part of a "rally" called the Gumball 3000 which seems to be an event that happens once a year in which rich men and women drive a specific route which could be anywhere in the world. This year it happened to be across the US and we just happened to be in Sedona the day they were and then at the Grand Canyon as well. Judging by the way they were driving, I'd say they looked at this event more like a "race" than a "rally," but they've gotten in trouble in the past and had to change it to a rally.

These girls got out of one of the cars (speaking a foreign language), took a pic of themselves in front of the Grand Canyon, then got right back in the car and left. Not the best way to see the Grand Canyon in my opinion after coming all that way!

How can you go to the Grand Canyon and not stare in awe for three hours? How?

That's what I say!

i think I can afford their camera the girls were using. I can't imagine what the price is on those cars.

Dusty: I think they have to take a photo to prove they made it to the specific destinations along the route. You would think they could afford a better camera, right? ;-)

The Gumball 3000 was bizarre. Wouldn't it be nice to have that kind of money and just throw it away like that? Seemed a bit of a waste to me.

Janet: I would find something else to do with all that money, that's for sure! At the very least, I'd be touring in a cool old car like Mike and Joan.
