We rode the metro to Montmartre. If you choose to take the many stairs to the top instead of using the elevator, you will be rewarded by seeing all these amazing paintings on the way up!
This style reminds me a lot of
the Pergola in Seattle. The pergola was apparently a cable car stop. I wonder if they were made around the same time period?

These were not there 20 years ago - I'm sure I would have noticed them.
Tash: Maybe they weren't. I do know most people miss them because they take the elevator instead. It's a shame!
We took the cable car. I had no idea about these murals!
Linda: The cable car is probably more fun since you get to see Paris going by.
To see the paintings, you must use the Abbesses station. The metro entrance (which actually was brought here from the Palais Royal station) dates from around 1900, designed by Hector Guimard.
