This is the board in the Smith Tower lobby that shows where the elevators are. When those red lights get to the bottom, the elevator is there. I waited a long time this morning for that to happen!
I spent a great deal of the rest of my day staring at screens like this waiting for that blue bar to get to it's destination.

Ah, the frustration of modern life captured with such humor! I like the old-fashioned board. BTW the old, ripped, and abandoned leather! couch was a great post too.
Thanks!
The frustration of the wait. I imagine this is why caffiene was invented. Thankfully, during this process, I jump over to the blogisphere and surf until them bars of blue finish what magic they yeld. That is until the dreaded blue screen of death yikes!
Fortunately, I haven't seen THAT this week. Oh, I hope I didn't jinx myself!
For me, nothing says "Wait!" like those little red lights. I used to amuse myself by imagining that each button was a race horse.
Your ability to create a kind of a photographic "shorthand" for emotions that would require several sentences to fully elaborate on is always a welcome surprise when I visit your blog.
Oh, yuck! It's days like that where you just want to turn around, go home, close all the blinds, shut off the phone, and dive under the covers.
Speaking of elevators, did you know the average person will wait patiently for 14 seconds before pushing the call button again? I read that somewhere a few years ago. My favorite is when you've pushed the call button and someone comes up a few seconds later and pushes it again. As if that will make it come faster. I'm not sure which are dumber: elevators for not having a chip embedded in their circuitry that tallies how many times the call button has been pushed or those of us who are dumb enough to push a button that's already been pushed.
What a wonderful juxtaposition!

movielady: I understand. I want to take bets on which one will reach the bottom first!
And thank you for your praise! I feel I must explain in words sometimes, but I hope the photos speak mostly for themselves.
d.c.: The last two days were like that. I really think staying home in bed would have been the better option!
The elevators in the Smith Tower work on some strange old machinery and I swear that if you hit the button more than once, it really does help! Or, maybe I'm just one of the crazy ones that gets tired after waiting 10 minutes or more and feels the need to do something even if it won't help! ;-)
sally: Thanks!
