Out with the Old - Those were some good times!
I tried to renew my passport today, but was unsuccessful. Who knew you had to pay with a money order or check? No cash or cards?? "Hello, this is the dark ages calling. We just wanted to let you know that if you want your offical ID from the U.S. government, you'll have to step into that time machine over there and join us way back here." So, now I'll have to go back tomorrow with a checkbook. argh.
Since I'll no doubt have to give up the old one for awhile, I thought I'd take you through a brief tour of some of my trips from the past ten years. This isn't all of them, but the ones that turned out OK. The others are too faded.
My first trip to South America!
I've been to this one many times in my life on the way to visit the grandparents.

The Last Resort Fire Department
We stumbled across The Last Resort Fire Department museum today at lunch. This place was full of old fire engines. Some were horse drawn! I'd like to go back sometime with the SLR.
That is a wooden ladder!
The one without horses.
Wooden wheel. I may use this for the Two Things Challenge: Textures/Shapes.

Be The Pig!
We've been switching over to Agile development at work and the motto is "be the pig" which my co-worker takes very seriously. His pig sits on his monitor looking at him all day. Apparently the pig had a little accident inflicted by another co-worker and his leg is now in a cast.
Possible Two Things Challenge: Textures/Shapes
This might be hard to see, but it is a tile in the Pioneer Square Station of the Bus Tunnel. It is smooth glass in a wavy square tile making an interesting reflection of the building on the other side.

Have an Erotic Day!
I walked to Pike Place Market today at lunch. This strip club is right in the heart of tourist central and the signs are different every time I walk by. They always crack me up.
My friend picked up a lovely fall bouquet at the Market. I like the pumpkin vase!
On the way to work this morning I passed a bunch of firefighters. It seems they had just finished putting out a fire and had blocked off the whole area. A few of them were still around when I walked home from work too!

Today I headed downtown to meet some friends from Port Angeles.
On the walk down, I saw one of the many buildings that is under construction.
I met my friends for dinner at Serious Pie. That was some mighty good pizza!
Afterwards we headed over to Top Pot for coffee. This is an old TV they have with a photo of the Top Pot building in the olden days.

Firehouse? Dive Bar?
Taken at McCoy's Firehouse. I rarely go to this place because it's mainly greasy pub food, but lunch was arranged by others today and since it was free, who was I to complain?

Biking and Hiking
Just outside of the frame there are two bike cops arresting someone. I love that we have police officers on bikes! They seem quite friendly too (if you are on the right side of the law).

Newly Washed City
This is the view from my room at work in the Smith Tower. Less than a month before we move and it goes away. So so sad.

Two Things Challenge: Black/White
One of my favorite magazines is The Sun. It is filled with B&W images, short stories and essays. It also has poetry and a "readers write" section in which people send in their stories based on a theme for each month.

People Watching
I ran errands at lunch today over by Westlake Mall. I took a few shots of the people hanging out.

Two Things Challenge: East/West
Here is my entry for the "East" part of the challenge. There is a park on what Seattleites call the Eastside called Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland. I took a few photos in this park before our book club meeting. Some of the trees had red and orange leaves which were made even more striking by the light of the sunset hitting them!
Someone put these red roses tied with black ribbon in various locations. I wonder what the story is there?
