Stone Mountain

This large dome of rock called Stone Mountain can be found in Georgia. It was the only stop we made in this state. The three figures carved in the stone: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. This carving was started by Gutzon Borglum, but not finished by him. He later went on to carve Mount Rushmore.

Ah, the gentlemen of the Confederacy. What a crew. Out of the three, Robert E. Lee is the most fascinating. One of the best books I've read about him is "Lee: The Last Years." Highly recommend it.

Maybe I'll get around to reading it one of these days!
